Spiritus Christi Buffalo

Spiritus Christi Buffalo began on November 3, 1999. Organized by Call to Action members Irene and Jack Kuhn and Jim and Sally Orgren, the community - mostly Catholic and actively involved in social justice - gathers each first Wednesday for an intimate and uplifting Eucharist.

Early liturgies were first held in a home, but now the mass is celebrated in the beautiful and historic Church of the Ascension located at the corner of Linwood and North Streets in the heart of downtown Buffalo.

Now discerning God's plan for the future and in preparation for our tenth anniversary, a committee has been formed that is exploring possibilities of an eventual weekly Eucharist and all sacraments (including ordination and marriages), considering tithing for the poor or the missions, and outreach to the gay and lesbian community.

Welcoming everyone, especially those who have been alienated or abused by the institutional church whether it be because of divorce and re-marriage; homosexuality or women's roles; the diocesan restructuring process or any other cause; Spiritus Christi Buffalo seeks to be a vibrant, inclusive Catholic community where all are welcome at the Lord's table.
